Melissa Owen

Prior to becoming a baker, Melissa attended the University of Oregon and studied Fine Art Photography. She has lived around the globe including Greece, Bahrain and Egypt. Melissa attended culinary school at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver, BC and worked at several bakeries in Vancouver including the Vancouver Art Gallery Cafe. In 2006 she relocated to Nelson and started Epiphany Cakes. Her first customer was Oso Negro. Melissa loves pugs, ceramics, sunshine, photography, camping and flipping through cookbooks. She has been gluten-free for over a decade and is passionate about developing delicious GF recipes. When she is not at work, Melissa can be found staying cozy and hanging out with her family. Melissa is currently working on her first cookbook, Epiphany Bakes, which is being published by TouchWood Editions in October 2024.

Ysauld de Montigny

Ysauld grew up across the street from Epiphany Cakes and did a bit of work with us when she was a teenager. She studied Culinary Arts at Selkirk College. Ysauld spent the last few years living and working in New Zealand where she worked as a baker and pastry chef. Her interests include snowboarding, hiking, birdwatching, and quilting. We are delighted to have her on our team!
